The Potters Place Gallery is proud to present Muddy Duck Pottery and Fireworx Glass. They will be our featured and guest artists and will share our front window space for the month of August.
You may have seen Dawn Hanson and Sabine Arends teamed up at various markets around the Valley. They enjoy working together and take pleasure in each other’s art.
Dawn enjoys cooking and eating and finds no greater pleasure than to make functional pottery that will play a part in people coming together over a meal. Lately she is having fun making large serving platters that can go from oven to table to dishwasher.
Dawn is inspired by all the beauty that the Comox Valley has to offer and you can see this inspiration in her warm, earthy green glaze; “forest floor” and her fresh, cool white and green glaze combination that she calls “glacial waters”.
A mainly self taught artist, Sabine achieved her skills by experimenting, taking workshops and working with other artists and students. Sabine enjoys working with dichroic glass because of its magical effects and colour impact. You will find this extraordinary glass in her wall art, garden art, plates and jewellery.
Her small farm with many birds inspires much of her work. You can’t look at her funky, colourful glass birds without breaking into a smile. Sabine also keeps busy with the many classes and workshops she offers.
