Charlotte Schaufelbuhl

Being a practical person myself, my main focus is on functionality, although I am always striving for pleasing forms and the next breath taking glaze. I dislike conformity at the expense of creativity.

My influence comes from nature and especially the sea, showing a strong nautical presence in both my functional work and raku pieces. Raku is my favourite method of making pots, always delighting me with it's many iridescent and sometimes unpredictable results.

I am lucky to live in such a fabulous part of the world. With natural beauty all around and the ocean at my back door, inspiration comes easily to my work which has ranged from a fixation with alligators to my current interest in botanical textures and impressions.

Work in high fire stoneware and porcelain. Shino glazes are predominate. One of a kind functional work, funky animals, masks and lanterns.
