I
love texture. In using found items, I discover what textural surprises lie
within. I primarily make hand built pieces, which take some of their inspiration
from natures cycles and shapes. My pottery then continues it's journey inside
the electric kiln, the pit fired barrel, or within the roaring fire of an
Anagama wood fired kiln.

I throw simple, functional forms and glaze with muted blues, browns and greens in a satiny matte surface. Hand building larger forms is challenging and satisfying as the possibilities of shape and size are limitless.

Being a practical person myself, my main focus is on functionality, although I am always striving for pleasing forms and the next breath taking glaze. I dislike conformity at the expense of creativity.

My influence comes from nature and especially the sea, showing a strong nautical presence in both my functional work and raku pieces. Raku is my favourite method of making pots, always delighting me with it's many iridescent and sometimes unpredictable results.
