The feel of throwing and creating with clay centers me and gives a deep feeling of completeness. Every step is a challenge and there is always something to learn about this art form. With the centuries of clay behind me what a legacy it gives to all.

Starting as painter I love the flexibility of clay, doing thrown and hand built pieces fired in a gas reduction kiln. A lot of my work epitomizes the beauty and drama of copper red glazes with black design. My work is strong, full of character, carefully formed and the ultimate in function.

Inspired by the ocean I create a unique range of functional pottery. Each piece is thrown on the potter’s wheel and altered through manipulation, mark making, piercing and/or other hand building techniques. All of my pieces are made of porcelain and fired to cone 10 in an electric kiln.

Marbled Pottery has been my fascination for 15 years and I continue to enjoy the variations and uniqueness of each piece. The colours are primarily turquoise, cobalt blue and brown and this year there may be some surprises. I also make Raku pieces of which I'm proud.
